waiting for them to call me back for my last radiation!

As I got onto the radiation table, one of the therapist said “Are you making it easy on us on your last day?” I had laid in correct my position. 96.3 have been my placement marker that I hear the girls call out to each other every visit to the cancer center for the past 7 weeks. Its if my body knew just were to go. “Here we go, for the last time” one of the girls said as they walked out of the room (just like an xray, if you are not getting the treatment, you want to be out of the room to protect your body). I laid there getting zapped for the last time almost gleefully. The machine radiation on my left side for the very last time. These last few weeks of radiation have been so much quicker with my “blast”. I was told this how quickly most radiations go, but the treatment I had been getting at the start was to avoid my heart as much as possible so it took longer. It was a nice reward towards the end to have quicker appointments. I was told my skin still could change for the next few weeks, so I’ll keep using the gel they gave me to help my skin heal.

My sweet therapists gave me a certificate that I am done with radiation! There have been 3 who’ve been with me for most all my treatments. Only one of my original 3 were there today, sad to not to celebrate with Katie and Jennifer.

The cancer center is all about some bell ringing to mark the end of treatment. Sweet Emily walked with me and Jason to the bell to celebrate my last time and told me to come say hello when I have my follow up appointment in a month. I thrilled to ring the bell and walk out of the cancer center with not having to come in on Monday. Next appointment I will be an infusion of herceptin in about two weeks – which will feel like forever compared to the everyday trip Ive been making.
